Modifications of a structure during its lifetime are considered within the nonlinear structural analysis as a load and modification process. The parameters of the load and modification process are usually uncertain parameters. Depending on the type of uncertainty the uncertain parameters may be described by the characteristics fuzziness, randomness, or fuzzy randomness.
A numerical simulation model for the load and modification process of structures with fuzzy input parameters and uncertain model parameters is developed. The uncertain input set is mapped by use of a mapping operator onto the uncertain result set. The parameters are functions of the spatial coordinates and the time. As mapping operator any suitable analysis algorithm is applicable (deterministic fundamental solution).
In the paper the modification of structures is demonstrated by way of the geometrically and physically nonlinear analysis of plane reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel bar structures.
